Challenger/Relays - It is very important that if you finished in the last 20% of the field on Day 1, that you start as early as possible on Day 2. I.e. 0800-0830hrs. This will give the a greater chance of success on Sunday, to complete within the course cut-off times.
Cut-off times:
Cut-offs are synonymous with all Pit Stops and one particular Checkpoint. If you miss a cut-off then you will be fast-tracked along the course to the Halfway or next convenient Pit Stop or Finish, using our Sweeper Vehicle or if you wish your own support if in attendance. Cut-off times are applied to your departure from the Pit Stops and not your arrival – this is to prevent you from languishing in the Pit Stop area for too long! Please see the Rules section of the website here. For Challengers and Relay teams that were slowest on Day 1 then you should start as soon after 0800hrs on Sunday as possible.
| Pit Stop | Expert Category | Challenger/Relay Category |
|---|---|---|
| Lanercost | 1200hrs | 1300hrs |
| Walltown | 1600hrs | 1700hrs |

| Hexham | 0100hrs (Sunday) | 1400hrs (Sunday) |

For the Experts, we appreciate that for some, sub 12 hours might be a reality and a target, for many; 18 or 24hrs, and for some, 24hrs may start to slip away from them towards the end of the challenge. In the spirit of making your completion dreams possible, we will keep the final stage of the Experts course open until 0900 on Sunday morning, which is two hours grace over the 24hr attempt.
